Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 are two benchmark phones from Samsung. Galaxy S was released to challenge iPhone 4. This time around Samsung took the lead and released Galaxy S2 and set a new benchmark for smartphones, now Apple has to respond to this challenge in their fifth generation iPhone, the iPhone 5. Galaxy S is slim and light with 4 inch super AMOLED screen, 1GHz processor and runs Android 2.1 (Eclair) which can be upgraded to Android 2.2 (Froyo). It has a 5 MP camera with 720p video recording capability but there is no camera in the front, so in turn the video calling is not possible. Galaxy S as an entertainer supports a variety of media formats including DivX, XviD and AVI(DivX). The Android browser support Flash Lite 3.1; support for Adobe flash player 10.1 is available with the upgrade to Android 2.2. Users can also enjoy browsing with multi- touch zoom. Galaxy S2 is a phone for future packed with next generation technologies. It’s the thinnest phone today, only measuring 8.49 mm. The 4.3 inch LCD display uses super AMOLED plus technology that gives an excellent readability and viewing experience with better power consumption. The display is highly responsive and has a better viewing angle than its predecessor. Galaxy S2 offers high speed performance with Samsung Dual core application processor that was built with Quad GPU and supports 3200Mpix/s.  The speed is complemented by the HSPA+ network which can deliver up to 21 Mbps, currently offering 5 -7 Mbps download speeds.

Galaxy S2 also features a 8 megapixels camera with LED flash, touch focus and 1080p@30fps HD video recording capability, 2 megapixels front facing camera for video calling, 1GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory expandable with microSD card, Bluetooth 3.0 support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI out, All Share DLNA, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, mobile hotspot capability and runs Android’s latest OS Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with its own personalized TouchWiz UX (TouchWiz 4.0).
