The difference between Tea Party and Republicans stems from the fact that the former is a political movement while the latter is a political party in the United States. Republicans are from the republican political party established by the anti-slavery activists in 1854. On the other hand, the Tea party is a populist movement in the United States of America. It is formed from the local and national protests. This is the main difference between Tea party and Republicans. Other than this main difference, there are some other differences that one can observe between the Tea Party and Republicans. We will pay attention to those differences in the course of this article. First, let us see who the republicans are and what the tea party is all about.

Who are Republicans?

The Republicans are the members of the Republican party that was formed by the anti-slavery activists in 1854. The Republicans are regarded as the majority in the United States. The Republican party came first to power in 1860. Abraham Lincoln was the first Presidential candidate from the Republic Party that won the elections. Ultimately, he won the elections and was declared the President of the United States of America. In should be noted that he is still a President, who is much honored and liked not only by the people of United States but even by outsiders.

Due to its grand past, the Republican Party is otherwise called as the Grand Old Party. Thus, they are the opposition to the Liberal Democrats in the US elections. It is interesting to note that the Republican Party reflects the conservatism of the Americans in the political arena.

As a political party, the Republican Party has a very organized structure with a leader. Just like any other established political party it has its own constitution that guides its political stand in the society.

What is Tea Party?

Tea party is a movement that has a popular status in the current political arena of the United States. The name Tea Party, according to the Tea Party activists, is a result of the inspiration from the Boston Tea Party incident, which took place during the American Revolution.

The Tea Party as a movement is regarded only as a minority in the United States. It is interesting to note that the Tea Party gained enormous popularity in 2009 during which period several laws were passed. These laws include Health Care Reform Bill and American Recovery and the famous Reinvestment Act. It is said that Emergency Economic Stabilization Act also came into being by virtue of the efforts of the movement of the Tea Party.

The Tea Party also supports the view of reduced spending by the government. They raise their voice against the increased government spending. They insist that the government should pay more attention towards the reduction of national debt too.

Tea Party does not have much of a very organized structure like the Republicans. It works as a loose combination of national and local groups that raise their voices against certain issues. They do not engage much in social issues as they want to avoid any internal disagreements that would harm the movement. They focus more on issues such as economic issues that affect the country as a whole.

• Republicans pay attention to social, economic, political issues as well as other issues that affect the country as a whole as they are a political party.

• Tea Party is more interested in economic and limited governmental issues. They do not want to take much part in the social issues.

These are the main differences between Tea Party and Republicans. As you can see, Republicans are the members of the Republican Party while Tea Party is a movement.
