Psychologist

As the name implies, a psychologist has studied psychology and holds a master’s degree in psychology. It is up to a psychologist to get involved with research or therapy. He is the right person to be asked to diagnose problems in kids and adults. He does clinical testing and suggests appropriate treatment method. A psychologist not only diagnoses and treats mental disorders; he also provides support and guidance to his patients, to let them make decisions. Psychologists can begin private practice and start counseling or providing therapy to clients to help solve their mental problems. However, they can choose to do research in academic settings and even continue to teach budding psychologists. . It is a path breaking research conducted by psychologists that throws light on new aspects of human behavior and guides others in the same profession to discover new treatment methods.

 

What is the difference between Therapist and Psychologist?

• A psychologist is always a person having a Mater’s degree in psychology while a therapist can be a psychologist but also come from other backgrounds.

• A psychologist can perform the role of a therapist, but he can also choose to research and teach in an academic setting

• A therapist provides therapy and manages the case of a mental patient, but he does not get involved with testing and prescription of drugs.
