The difference between Bible and Quran sheds some light also to the difference between Christianity and Islam as these two books are the foundations of the two religions. They are the holy scriptures of each religion that carry the beliefs on which each religion is built on. The Bible is a collection of sacred scripture of both Judaism and Christianity, the oldest surviving book that is from the fourth century. However, Muslims believe that the Quran was revealed from God to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel from 610 to 632 CE. There are a good number of differences between the Bible and the Quran.

What is the Bible?

It is quite interesting to note that the Bible was compiled over a period of 13 centuries. The Bible is arranged chronologically. The Bible is considered to have many authors. The Bible as a whole is not mentioned even once in the Bible. It is quite important to note that there are seven versions of the Bible. The Bible is believed to have been constructed from the lost originals. The oldest complete manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible date from the Middle Ages. The New Testament has been translated into 1,185 languages and Bible (Protestant Canon) in 451 languages.

Difference Between Bible and Quran

The Bible says that Jesus is the God in flesh. Jesus was crucified according to the Bible. The Bible says that Jesus rose from death. Jesus was the son of God according to the Bible. The Bible guarantees salvation by grace. The Devil is a fallen angel according to the Bible. Man, according to the Bible is a fallen sinner. The Bible would say that the disciples were Christians. Numerous miracles were recorded according to the Bible. The Bible makes innumerable prophecies. The Bible recommends worship on Sabbath, and then again on Sundays. The Holy Spirit will bear the witness of Jesus according to the Bible.

What is the Quran?

The Quran was revealed over a period of just 23 years. Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation in the Cave of Hira. Thereafter, he received rest of the revelations over a period of twenty-three years. The Quran is not arranged chronologically. The Quran is considered to have only one author. The Quran is mentioned as a whole often in the Quran. The word Quran appears about 70 times in the Quran itself. Quran is considered as the only self-referential religious text. The Quran has only one version. The Quran is believed to be preserved in its original form. Present day Quran is accepted by historians as the original version compiled by Abu Bakr shortly after Muhammad’s death. Presently, Quran has been presented in 112 languages.

The Quran says that Jesus is not God. According to the Quran, Jesus was not crucified. The Quran says that Jesus did not rise from death. Jesus was not the son of God according to the Quran. The Quran says that salvation is possible by sincerity to work. The Devil is not a fallen angel but fallen Jinn according to the Quran. The Quran says that man is not a sinner, but he is basically good. The Quran would say that the disciples would declare themselves as Muslims. The Quran says that miracles were not recorded. It would, in fact, say that the Quran itself is a miracle. The Quran does not make prophecies. The Quran recommends worships on Fridays. The Holy Spirit is the angel Gabriel according to the Quran.

• The Bible would say that the disciples were Christians, whereas the Quran would say that the disciples would declare themselves as Muslims.

• Numerous miracles were recorded according to the Bible, whereas the Quran says that miracles were not recorded. It would, in fact, say that the Quran itself is a miracle.

• The Bible makes innumerable prophecies, whereas the Quran does not make prophecies.

• The Bible recommends worships on Sabbath and on Sundays, whereas the Quran recommends worships on Fridays.

• The Holy Spirit will bear the witness of Jesus according to the Bible whereas the Holy Spirit is the angel Gabriel according to the Quran.

    good article except for some observations:
    1. the way the article was written: the information flows as this: saying first what the bible is and then what the quran isn’t instead of clarifying what the quran is, too.
    2. “whereas the Quran says that miracles were not recorded.”> this is completely untrue, i advise the author to read more about the miracles mentioned in the quran.
    3.”whereas the Quran does not make prophecies.”> another grave mistake; a notable number of prophecies were clearly mentioned in the quran, and muslims believe many of them have already happened.

      HaaHamm should give us a run down of the miracles mentioned in the quran and also the prophecies.

    Some of this is SOOOO UNTRUE! 🙁 Bible: Man is full of greed as well. Quran: Man in not…. NOT TRUE. Please don’ believe some of this… I have respect for everyone and everything… some of us don’t see that and they need to. PROUD TO BE A MUSLIM ! <3

      The Bible talks of the monotheism of God in three persons but quran does not buy that idea

    There is one Sabbath day, it is defined as the 7th day of the week. whoever said Sunday is a Sabbath day is illiterate. the following should be deleted from this article.
    The Bible recommends worship on Sabbath, and then again on Sundays.
