Earth vs Saturn

Earth and Saturn are two planets that show a remarkable difference between them when it comes to their characteristics and nature. It is true that both Earth and Saturn belong to our solar system, but the earth is in the inner solar system, and the Saturn is in the outer solar system. This shows that Saturn is very far away from the Sun as much as Earth is closer to Sun than Saturn. Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system, only second to Jupiter. Earth, on the other hand, has the rank of the fifth largest planet in our solar system.

More about Earth

Earth is the third planet in the solar system. It is important to know that Earth is conducive to life because earth is a terrestrial planet. The rotation of the Earth is not as same as the revolution of the earth. Rotation of the earth is spinning of the earth on its axis. Revolution of the earth is the movement of the earth around the Sun. The axis of the earth is the imaginary line that passes through the center of the earth from the North Pole to the South Pole.

Difference Between Earth and Saturn

The Earth spins on its axis from west to east. It is this rotation that causes day and night. The Earth completes one rotation every 24 hours. The moon is said to be the nearest neighbor to the Earth in the space. The moon also is the natural satellite to the Earth. Earth is said to be at a distance of about 149, 597, 891 kilometers from the Sun. Earth’s diameter is 7, 926 miles. It is said that the Earth takes 365 days to orbit the Sun. This period is known as a year on Earth.

More about Saturn

Saturn is the sixth planet is our solar system. Saturn is said to be at a distance of about 1, 433, 000, 000 km from the Sun. As Saturn has a diameter of 74, 898 miles, Saturn is about 9.5 times bigger than the Earth.Though Saturn is so larger than Earth, Saturn takes around 30 years to orbit the Sun. Saturn is not conducive to life because Saturn is a gas giant made of mostly hydrogen and helium. The atmosphere of Saturn is about 96% hydrogen and 4% of helium. The rest is traces of other gases. Also, the atmospheric pressure on Saturn is very high. NASA suggests that the pressure at the core of Saturn is more than 1000 times as the pressure on Earth. This shows that Saturn does not possess the conditions wherein life is made possible. It is said to be very cool and dark in Saturn since its distance from the sun is farther than the earth.

Difference Between Earth and Saturn

What is the difference between Earth and Saturn?

• Saturn is the sixth planet in our solar system while Earth is the third planet in the solar system. This is based on the distance from the Sun.

• However, when it comes to size, Saturn is the second largest plant while Earth is the fifth largest planet in the solar system.

• It is important to know that Earth is conducive to life because Earth is a terrestrial planet. However, Saturn is not conducive to life because Saturn is a gas giant made of mostly hydrogen and helium.

• Earth is said to be at a distance of about 149, 597, 891 kilometers from the sun whereas Saturn is said to be at a distance of about 1, 433, 000, 000 km from the Sun.

• Saturn is about 9.5 times bigger than the earth; Saturn has a diameter of 74, 898 miles whereas Earth’s diameter is 7, 926 miles.

• It is said that the Earth takes 365 days to orbit the Sun. On the other hand, Saturn takes around 30 years to orbit the Sun. This is a major difference between the earth and Saturn.

• A day on Earth is 24 hours. This is the time Earth takes to rotate on its axis. Since Saturn, rotates faster than Earth on its axis, a day on Saturn is about 10 hours and 39 minutes.

• The atmospheric pressure on Saturn is believed to be unbearablely high. It is said the core pressure on Saturn is more than 1000 times the pressure found on Earth.

• The axis tilt of Earth is 23.5 while the axis tilt of Saturn is 26.7 degrees.

• When it comes to weather, Saturn has more adverse weather conditions that are larger than Earth. These also last longer than those on Earth. For example, the Voyager probes found a large hexagonal shaped storm larger than the whole of planet Earth, at the North Pole on Saturn. This was in 1980-81 period. Cassini-Huygens probe that came to Saturn in 2004 witnessed the same storm still progressing.

• While Earth has only one moon, Saturn has 62 moons.

These are the differences between Earth and Saturn.
