Pothys, RMKV and Saravana Stores are three different shops that sell apparels in Chennai. All the three are different when it comes to the collection of apparel, the types of clothes sold and the like.

RMKV is established way back in 1924, and it is known to specialize in selling traditional silk sarees. Embroidered silks and 9-yard silks are very popular to buy from them. Founded by Sri Rm.K.Visvanatha Pillai it is highly reputed for its wedding silks, as well as family apparel. They are known to employ new techniques in handloom silk weaving. As a consequence they have bagged two national awards as well for the style of weaving.

RMKV is known to produce theme sarees such as Chinnanchiru Kiliye, Durbar Krishna, Kural Oviyam and the like. Rich cultural heritage of India is highlighted in the making of the sarees by RMKV. This is due to the 85 long years of experience that have put in the service of producing silk sarees.

RKKV won the national award for Master Weavers and Master Craftspersons for the year 1998. French tapestry technique is used in the making of the sarees by the craftspersons of RMKV.

Pothys on the other hand, is more looked upon as a place where we can buy apparel for Indian festivals like Deepavali and Pongal.
