T-Mobile G2X and T-Mobile Sidekick 4G are two new additions on T-Mobile’s HSPA+21Mbps network. LG’s T-Mobile G2X is blazing with 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 4 inch WVGA display and 8 MP camera. It is an US version of LG Optimus 2X. Though Sidekick 4G is lagging in hardware when compared to T-Mobile G2X, it has some good messaging features such as group text, cloud text and a 5 row physical QWERTY keyboard that will sure to attract many. The hardware too is good enough for more than average users with 1GHz processor, 3.5 inches pop up touchscreen and supported by the fast HSPA+ network.

T-Mobile G2X

T-Mobile G2X is the US version of LG Optimus 2X. It has some impressive features and runs Android 2.2, which is upgradeable to Android 2.3. Its superb hardware includes 4″ WVGA (800×480) TFT LCD capacitive touch-screen, Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz Dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording at 1080p, 1.3 MP camera for video calling, 8 GB internal memory with support for expansion up to 32 GB and HDMI out (support up to 1080p).

The other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA latest version 1.5, Video codec DivX and XviD, FM Radio and preloaded with Strek Kart game. With all these hardware inside, T-Mobile G2X is still slim too. Its dimension is 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm.

The Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset used in LG Optimus 2X is built with 1GHz cortex A9 dual core CPU, 8 GeForce GX GPU cores, NAND memory, native HDMI, dual display support and native USB. Dual display supports HDMI mirroring and in gaming act as motion controller, but it does not support for video playback.

T-Mobile G2X is compatible with GSM, EDGE and HSPA+ networks and available in three colors, black, brown and white.

The pricing and release date is yet to be confirmed.

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G (Model SGH-T839)

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is an improved version of the previous Sidekick and to run skinned Android 2.2.The design is very similar to the previous version and unique to sidekick. It has a 3.5 inches WVGA (800 x 480) pop-up touchscreen with navigation buttons at four corners and a 5 row QWERTY keyboard. It runs Android 2.2 (Froyo). The rear camera is a moderate 3.0 MP and a VGA camera at the front for video calling. Sidekick 4G is powered by 1GHz application processor and is compatible with T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network.

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G has some good messaging features. It has group text messaging, something similar to Blackberry messenger,which allows a group of people to text at the same time on one threaded message. The cloud text is the other feature, which allows text over the web using PC. It also has a Social hub and preloaded Facebook and Twitter for social networking.

For video chat it has pre-installed Qik, you can enjoy the chat over T-Mobile’s high speed HSPA+ network or via Wi-Fi.

For entertainment it has Media hub, YouTube, Slacker Radio and T-Mobile TV.

The phone is little thick and bulky with a dimension of 126.2  x 61. 5 x 14.99 mm and 5.61 oz

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is available in two colors, matte black and pearl magenta. It will be available this spring (2011), the release date is yet to be confirmed. The new Sidekick 4G will cost $150 for a new 2 year contract. T-Mobile offers a $50 rebate if you sign up for a higher priced data plan.
