Samsung Droid Charge vs HTC Inspire 4G – Full Specs Compared
When it comes to 4G there are few to match the HTC which has been churning out winners one after the other as far as smartphones are concerned. Its latest offering to AT&T, Inspire 4G has all the ingredients to keep it at the top of the heap for quite some time with all the latest features. However, Samsung has recently launched its own Droid charge for Verizon, that has the capabilities (even betters them in some respects) to take Inspire 4G head on. Let use see how these huge display smartphones fare when pitted against each other.
Samsung Droid Charge
The battle for supremacy in 4G is on with Samsung announcing Droid Charge which has a super AMOLED plus screen, 1 GHz processor and an outstanding 8 MP camera. It is backed by a powerful 1600mAh battery and comes along with 32 GB of micro SD card and a long micro USB cable. This is the first 4G Droid for Verizon.
In a bid to keep the smartphone light, Samsung have done away with all the metal and instead present a full plastic cabinet. The ploy has worked as Droid Charge looks sleek and light when compared with other huge smartphones. However, without soft rubber, the gripping is not all that good.
The phone has a monster 4.3” screen which is super AMOLED plus and gives a resolution of WVGA. It is a dual camera device with an 8 MP camera at the rear while another impressive 1.3 MP camera at the front to make video calls and to take stunningly clear self portraits that the user can share with his friends on social networking sites. The rear camera is excellent, capable of recording HD videos in 720p.
The phone runs on Android 2.2 Froyo which is disappointing. However, backed up by Samsung’s improved TouchWiz UI, the phone gives a decent performance whether watching videos or surfing the net. It has 1 GHz hummingbird processor which is not quite as fast as all those dual core processors fitted in new age smartphones, but it does give a decent performance. The phone has 2 GB of internal memory expandable to 32 GB using micro SD cards and a 32GB microSD card is included to the package.
4G speeds of the phone are terrific, and one can download heavy files in a jiffy. It provides a super speed of 5.4- 14.4 Mbps while downloading and also gives decent upload speeds. Even with 4G, the battery is strong enough to last a full day’s load. Despite such a large screen and a monster battery, the phone is surprisingly light and even feels thin in hands.
HTC Inspire 4G
If you are looking for a 4G handset that is larger than life, look no further. HTC Inspire fits the bill perfectly with excellent features like 4.3” display, 4 GB storage, 768 MB RAM, 1 GB processor, and an auto focus 8 MP camera. Yes, you have everything to look forward to when you buy this phone on a contract at just $99 from AT&T.
The phone has dimensions of 122.9×68.1×11.7mm and weighs 163g which is sleek and light considering the size of battery and display. The display (4.3”) is super LCD touch screen giving a resolution of 480×800 pixels which is bright even in broad daylight. The phone has all standard features like accelerometer, proximity sensor, and multi touch input method and 3.5 mm audio jack at the top. It allows for 4 GB of internal storage with a solid 768 MB RAM. With 8 GB micro SD cards given, you can expand memory to 32 GB using micro SD cards.
The smartphone is Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP+EDR and provides HSPDA speeds of 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA speeds of 5.76 Mbps. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and is packed with 1 GHz Scorpion processor with Adreno 205 GPU. The browser is HTML with full Adobe Flash 10.1 support that translates into seamless browsing. The phone has 8 MP camera at the back with auto focus and dual LED flash that can record HD videos in 720p. It also has stereo FM with RDS.
