Nokia N97 vs Nokia N97 Mini
Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini are siblings from Nokia touchscreen smartphone family. Nokia N97 is the second touchscreen smartphone from Nokia launched in 2008. It got tremendous response from the public, selling close to 2 million sets worldwide. It has a sliding QWERTY keypad and has Symbian OS. Buoyed by its success, Nokia has announced Nokia N97 Mini, its younger sibling in many ways. Let us find out the differences between the two smartphones.
N97 Mini, as the name signifies is a little smaller than N97. The edges have been rounded so that it fits easily in your pocket. Mini is also 22gm lighter than N97. To make a smaller version, Nokia had to trade off screen size, and the huge screen of N97, which stood at 3.5” has given way to a 3.2” screen of Mini. However, there is no change in the resolution of the screen and it stands at 360X640pixels containing 16M colors.
The slide out full QWERTY keypad, which was the main attraction of N 97 is present, but because of the smaller size there has been a bit of redesigning done. The D-pad on N 97 has given way to 4 arrow keys on the right side. In fact there is more space between the keys to make typing on this keypad a pleasure to those sending emails.
The back of the phone has also undergone a makeover as the plastic cover has given way to a metallic cover. This has made Mini a little more stylish than its elder sibling. However, there is nothing to protect the camera which is the same 5megapixel one with dual LED flash as was there in N 97.
The battery is the only disappointing feature in Mini as it has been downsized to 1200mAH in comparison to 1500mAH of N 97. Smaller size of Mini really did not leave enough space for a bigger battery.
One big difference between N 97 and Mini is their internal storage capacity. Whereas N 97 boasted a capacity of 32GB, Mini has only a 8GB internal storage which however is expandable with the help of micro SD card. It was necessary to keep the price of Mini down in any case. The price of Mini is Euro 450 which is Euro 100 less than its elder brother.
