Difference Between White Wheat and Whole Wheat

White Wheat vs Whole Wheat

White and whole wheat are two classifications of wheat that contains various nutrients that are good for the human body. They contain proteins (sued to repair the damage cells and tissues in the body), carbohydrates (the ones that gives energy to the body) and fiber (helps food body digestion).

White Wheat

White wheat has a white to golden color and with very high protein content. It has two types namely: Soft white wheat or SWW (typically grown in Montana, Idaho, and California) and hard white wheat or HWW (which is added in the market around 1990). In terms of protein content, HWW contains more protein compared to the SWW. In general, white wheat is milder in flavor and tastes much sweet compared to the others.

Whole Wheat

Whole wheat is commonly the raw material used to make breads, cakes, muffins, pastas, crackers and the like. Whole wheat products can be found mostly all over North America and other countries as well. A cup of whole wheat has high contents of manganese, fiber which are good for diet, trytophan, and menial amount of magnesium and calories. Eating whole wheat products can reduce risks of suffering metabolic syndromes.

Difference between White Wheat and Whole Wheat

Both white wheat and whole wheat comes from wheat grass. White wheat has two types which are SWW (soft white wheat) and HWW (hard white wheat) while whole wheat is whole wheat alone. White wheat is grown mostly in the Northwest Pacific whereas the whole wheat is mostly grown North America. Though they are the same kind of wheat, they differ in terms of nutrient contents because white wheat is very high in proteins and carbohydrates. Whole wheat on the other hand contains highly on manganese and fiber which are all good for the human body. White wheat is milder in flavor and tastes much sweet compared to the others.

The difference between White and Whole Wheat are mainly on their nutritional value. While wheat is a good source of carbohydrates which gives the body the right amount of energy needed to perform work daily, whole wheat on the other hand has high fiber content that is good for diet and reduce the risk of having any metabolic sicknesses.

In brief:

• White wheat is popular around Pacific Northwest while the whole wheat is popular in Northern America.

• White wheat is high in protein and carbohydrates whereas whole wheat is high in fiber and manganese.

• White wheat is milder in flavor and tastes much sweet compared to the others.
