During the 17th and 18th centuries, slavery was a legal institution in American colonies. The first African slaves were brought to North America in 1619 to help in the production of crops. “African American” is really a nonsense term popularized by noted rabble-rouser Jesse Jackson. I know a guy who is an American citizen but immigrated from Africa. He was born if Africa, as were his parents, grand parents and great grandparents, so by any reasonable definition he’s an African American. His last name is Van Demeter, and he is as white as they come.
You’re absolutely wrong in saying that all African Americans are black as there are many, many people with white skin from South Africa and they have been there for many generations.
Ooh yes! there is white South Africans who have been in South Africa since slavery times and there is no name calling….. so what the hell is happening between blacks in america? Do you guys feel you better than the other?
Thee word “blacks” is quite dehumanizing.
The word black is a color not a racist word, neither dehumanizing. Now nigger is a derogatory word learn the difference. And yes call black Americans, African Americans is offensive for true Africans descendants, their culture, social behavior, and music is very different. Black Americans are aggressive, prideful, confrontational, racist, lazy and disrespectful.Their music supports criminal behavior, drug addictions, and women denigration. Of course not all of them. While African Americans are humble, respectful, peaceful, and don’t blame america every 5 minutes for being racist. On the contrary they are grateful of being in the USA far from the violence and ethnic cleansing that occur frequently in Africa. Their music is beautiful and easy to the ears. This is my own opinion based on my dealing with both groups. It doesn’t reflect the total truth about either ethnics. Have good friends in both sides.
